Peer review

I just read Karla's story and I thought it was really good. I didn't see how Lupe could do that too Maria tho. See what happened was Maria and her boyfriend had been going out for the longest time and Maria's best friend Lupe was secretly fooling around with him behind her back. Lupe couldn't deal with it anymore and finally told Maria, and she ended her relationship with Lupe. The thing that got me thinking how is the guy not at fault for any of this? He was fooling around with both of the girls and the girls didn't even get mad at him.

When I hear a rap song, I pay more attention to the beat than to the lyrics

In my case I'll get caught with the beat then I'll transition to try to comprehend what the lyrics mean and the purpose of the song. I think when you listen to any type of music you should listen to the lyrics because that gives the direction of the song and what the message is giving out. Also, you sometimes catch yourself not caring about songs but know every lyric. Which I think its scary because its imprinted in your mind and you not even consciously knowing what your saying. I just feel that American Society is distorted in so many ways.

One Mind One Goal

One Mind One Goal

It all started when Chris and Justin got their own little keyboard that they went halves on at the pawn shop. With only 5 different types of beats and 5 instruments on it, but all they needed was a taste. They spent a whole summer mowing lawns and cleaning backyards for that keyboard.

Everyday after school and when they finished their homework they would go down to Justin’s basement and fool around with the keyboard and they both would make their own versus over the beat, and if they liked it they would record it to the keyboard.

So as time went by they got a bigger and better keyboard, stepped up and got a microphone and their versus were getting stronger and more meaningful. Since they had better equipment and recording material they put out their first mix tape “ Chris and Justin One Mind One Goal”. Which they handed out at school, church, and basically anywhere that they could get to.

Now little Chris and Justin were getting a name for themselves and started developing their own personas. Chris was the calm and smart one, but Justin on the other hand was the crazy wild one. Since, they been making tracks which each other it was clear that Chris was the best of the too, and was taking his music career seriously. While Justin was out partying all night and showing up late and also resorted to drugs.

The partying had taken a toll on the two’s relationship, Chris wanted to take his rapping career to the next level, while Justin was the exact opposite. He wanted to kickback and enjoy the fame they had already got and was happy with it. So Chris made the biggest decision of his life and called off the duo and signed onto Jive records.

Justin filled with rage and sorrow felt betrayed by Chris and put out a diss song smashing on his sick mother and dead father. He didn’t know what to do know because Chris was the one to make the beats and Justin realized he never really learned anything. That Chris was the one who would finalize all the songs and did all the dirty work for the album. So what did he do? He just continued to party, party, party and drink the pain away.

Chris on the other hand was doing his thing with Jive and was on a recording frenzy. Putting out number one albums after the other and taking the music scene by storm. Getting nominated for Grammy’s getting million dollar checks, Chris has fulfilled his dreams.

Where is Justin at? He’s the manager back in Scottsdale trying to get his musical career back on track, rapping still and trying to get back on the scene.

Now that Chris is established now and is known as one of the top rapper/producers in the game. He can finally kickback and enjoy his life with his family and friends, and misses his best friend Justin. So he decides to call him up one day.

At first Justin would purposely ignore his calls, but Chris wouldn’t stop calling him. So frustratingly Justin finally answered the phone

“ Yeah? What do you want?”

“ Justin, How you been man?”

“Fucking Terrible since you fucked me over”

“It wasn’t anything personal man, I was trying to get out of The scotts and you weren’t taking it serious.”

“ Its always work, work, work with you, I bet you don’t know how to have fun”

“ The party scene has never be me and you know that”

“Whatever….. why did you call?”

“ I want to get you on one track”

“ Fuck that”

“Cmon’ just one track I’ll pay if you want”

“How much?”

“ $50,000”

“ Send me a ticket and I’ll be there”

So Chris sent him a ticket from Scottsdale to California and the next day Justin showed up to his doorstep. It had been years since they seen each other, and at first it was awkward but once the stepped in to the studio everything changed. Justin was amazed at Chris’s home studio and couldn’t wait and hopped in the booth, and put on the headphones. So Chris lined up the beat and went in strong. Chris and Justin knew the song was fire, so Justin said “So what do you want to call it?”

Chris replied with, “One Mind One Goal”.

One Holy Night

I remeber our 8th grade year was coming to an end and over the course of middle school my paticular group of buddies would always mess around and always have a good time regardless of the situation. The crew was Me, Phillip, Eduardo, Charlie, Sherwin, Rodrigo, and Tyjon. Everyone was super cool with each other and we just cruised through middle school together. As, the months went by we noticed a change in Tyjon, he changed up his style, the music he listened too, and the way he went about things. He went from rapper to crazy weird scene dude, and kinda shut us down for a while. Come to think about it he shut everyone down. So one day towards the end of the school year we sat him down and talked to him and asked him what was going on with him. Of course he didn't want to say anything to us and ignore us, but he knew we wouldn't judge him and always encourage him in whatever he did. So he just broke down and let it all out. Come to find out he was gay, and he thought we would shut him out and forget about him. We all just laughed and because we thought it was silly and didn't believe him at first, but then he told us he was serious. So, we all just looked at each other and told him that we don't care if your gay we love you dude. The look on his face was priceless, like a 500 pound weight was lifted off his shoulders and he just busted out crying. So then that triggered all of us too cry and we all walked away that day with friends we know we'll have for a lifetime.

Would you like to Super Size that?

The documentary Super size me really opened my eyes about fast food and about my diet. What really got to me was how much eating Mcdonald's can affect your liver. They compared binge eating at Mcdonalds to be as bad as binge drinking which I didn't think was even comparable. It definetly made me double think if I want that McChicken or that Big Mac. I would think someone would make a documentary like this to make a powerful point and take action instead of just stating facts. I believe Morgan was bias towards McDonald's in his documentary. I saw this because through out the movie he would crack a joke every now and then and give a fact about McDonald's food. Also, he portrayed McDonald's as the villian and didn't mention the good things Mcdonald's does and how they give back to the community.

I feel as if I'm not that much of a wasteful person, but I guess I am a wasteful person. My reflection showed that to support my lifestyle there would need to be 4.5 earths, which was pretty shocking to me. Now that I think about it I really do buy much more than I need. Like for example I still have shoes in the boxes never opened and clothes with tags still on them just hanging there in the closet. Really brands aren't that important to me, but it also depends on what I'm looking for. When it comes to advertisements I'm never really persuaded because I'm not focused and zoned out most of the time. I think one thing I could change to make peace with the earth is not buy different types of the same thing and fix things that are broken.

When I was younger their where positive and negative writing experiences for me. I think that shaped the reader I am today. Well, let's start off with the positive experiences, all I can remember that in the beginning it was easy and later down the road it started to get a little rocky. By the time we were closing in grade school and starting middle school, the reading began to get a little longer and little harder. So as my peers progressed forward I began to pull back, since I wasnt able to keep up, and ever since then I've been trying to catch up.
